You are now watching the throne

Last Friday, I was lucky enough to release my inner ghetto self and go and see Jay Z and Kanye West at the o2 Arena on their Watch The Throne tour. As you may or may not know, I am not very gangster (haha) but I do love Jay Z, and I was ridiculously excited to see them in action - if you follow me on Twitter or Instagram (@iamlaurenpotts) - you'll definitely know that!

By fluke, we managed to get really close to the centre stage - of course, you couldn't expect them to share one stage for the whole night! Jay Z and Kanye walked right past us a couple of times and I TOUCHED Kanye! Haha. We were also mega close to the VIP area, where we spotted a teeny tiny Cheryl Cole and also Jessie J!

The tracks from Watch The Throne sounded amazing live, and I loved how they managed to play their solo stuff as well, the gig was about 2 and a half hours long, with no support act! Truly amazing! I did think that it might feel like it went on for forever, but it actually whizzed past! They hardly spoke to the crowd too, just kept bashing out tunes, which is what we paid for after all!
We were half expecting Rihanna to be one of their guests for Run This Town and All of The Lights, as she was apparently in London, but she was a no show! My favourite song, Big Pimpin' got me pulling some serious (slightly drunken) shapes! The atmosphere for Empire State of Mind and 99 Problems were amazing, as they had the whole crowd in the palm of their hand. They ended their set with a few plays of Niggas in Paris! We left after the third time round...I've heard it went on for another two!

Truly amazing night, I wish I could go again! I knew it was going to be good, but it was everything I expected and much more! I'll definitely be getting tickets if they do another tour together :)

Did you go?

Oh, my blue heaven

1/2/3/4/5

Despite the fact I can’t afford much at the present (after buying my Field Day ticket aaand going to see Jay Z and Kanye tonight!) I really like making these wishlists, so I thought it was time for another!
In the spring and summer, pastel blue and mint shades are always my favourite, year in, year out. And amazingly this year, pastels are all the rage! There’s so many cute candy-coloured things out there that I want…if only my bank account would allow!

I’ve been after a bike now for quite a while and this is my dream one! I am so in love with the Pashley Poppy, I just wish it was less expensive so I could have it in my life. The white tyres and the tan handlebars and saddle just make it my favourite bike around. A girl can dream!

I could not be happier that Essie is now available at Boots! I’m yet to buy some of their nail varnish, but I absolutely love these two shades! (l-r Mint Candy Apple & Bikini So Teeny), and I’ll hopefully be bagging them as soon as possible!

Collar clips (again!) I bloody love these Topshop ones, really like the turquoise detail! They’re sadly on the slightly pricey side, but hopefully there’ll be some copies on eBay soon?!

This Cambridge Satchel is the most dreamy thing ever! I’m always eyeing up the tan and black ones, the safe option, I know. But the spring pastel collection, which I believe is already sold out (boo!) is bloody amazing! This bag is so gorgeous and perfect for brightening up a nice spring ensemble, and big enough to fit all the essentials in too!

Last, but certainly not least, is this beautiful minty coloured blouse from Lavish Alice! I spied it a few weeks ago when Sweet Monday posted a picture of hers on Instagram and I’ve been in love since! I’m a sucker for a nice collar and the detailing on this one is far too pretty to resist! And it’s a bargain at only £25!

What’s on your wishlist at the moment?

What's in your bag?

I always find these posts really interesting, probably because I may be slightly nosy as to what everybody lugs around with them!

I'm sure mine is actually pretty boring but I quite like posts like these, you feel as if you've had a little peek into somebody else's world!

So this is what's in my bag right now:

Nothing out of the ordinary, I never ever leave my house without most of these things!
Except the cinema ticket - me and Matthew saw American Reunion last night - it was bloody hilarious!

These young lions

The many faces of yours truly!

Last night, me and my mum did some sorting through some old bits and pieces, and we found loads of old pictures, so of which I've never seen, and lots of old school work. Mum says that ever since I've had my fringe cut back in, I remind her of when I was little again, I probably had a fringe for the first 8 or 9 years of my life. Embarrassingly enough, I also thought people were born with fringes too.... haha.

Sifting through old bits and bobs, especially photos, is one of my favourite things to do - I love to reminisce. I even find myself looking backwards through my Facebook pictures, reminding myself of what fun I had a month or so ago!

One of the things we also found, which really tickled me, was a list of my hopes for the future from when I was about 10 years old.

-I hope to be a vet or a singer (Literally don't know what I was thinking there!)
-I want to learn how to drive and have a convertible.
-I want to live in a bungalow.
-I want to make new friends.

So I'm not a vet OR a singer, and I still can't drive! I also don't live in a bungalow, but never mind. I made it through university and have got a pretty decent job - I hope little Lauren is proud!

What did you want to be when you were younger?

One day, we're gonna live in Paris

Last week, me and Matthew finally booked our holiday to Paris! Hooray! We're going in for four days in August, and I'm really excited! I haven't been to Paris since I was 17 years old, so will be lovely to go back and explore the city again! The weather should be nice and hot and sunny too, so even more to look forward to!

We're also going to Disneyland! We managed to get a pair of free tickets from Sky Rewards, it wasn't well advertised though, so I'm glad I caught wind of them! I went to Florida last October, and where as we did the Universal parks and Seaworld etc, we didn't go to Disney this time, as we're 'all grown up'. (wah!) But I'm glad Matthew and I now have the excuse to travel to Paris and have a cheeky holiday as well :)

I want to buy some new clothes before I go...no doubt you'll be seeing wishlists and the like on here very soon!

The Jeweller's hands

So I've been thinking recently about making jewellery to sell online - I've always been a fan of jewellery, especially cute, vintage & retro-style bits and pieces and I've got the urge to get involved!

If you follow me on Tumblr, you may have read this earlier...BUT...I've been looking for supplies, and obviously have trawled eBay and Etsy has some amazing pieces, but I was wondering if any of you had any ideas of where I could find some bits and bobs!?
If you can help me at all, it would be amazing!

Of course, I will post again when I get round to details and making (yay!), some will more than likely be available on Totes Retro too - if you haven't got round to checking them out, please do! :)

Thanks!

Radlands

Monday saw the much anticipated release of Mystery Jets fourth album Radlands. I've been a big fan of the band since their early stuff (circa. 2005! Showing my age...) and every album is a joy to listen to.

It's really interesting to see how they progress and grow with each album, as it is with other bands, but Mystery Jets always pull it out the bag for me. I also love how they change their image with each album - for Twenty One, it was pastel suits and very Eighties, to match their sound. This time round, the band had been writing and recording the majority of the record in Austin, Texas. Of course, their attire has turned cowboyesque with the location...but it left me wondering whether their new sound would follow suit?

There is no doubt that there's an Americana influence throughout the whole album. Unlike their previous offerings, which were very synth based and had the electro pop factor, Radlands is much more about the guitar. It's quite laid back and mellow than their previous sound as well, it's not a bad thing though!

I've been listening to the album every morning on my commute to work, and an instant favourite track was You Had Me At Hello. But once listening to the lyrics across the album as a whole, you can't help but wonder if Mystery Jets have gone all religious on us. Blaine sings 'Deliver me from sin, and give me rock n roll' on single Someone Purer, and Sister Everett - the title says it al. If you listen to it properly, you'll hear scatterings of religious references - I also think The Hale Bop sounds like a hymn at the beginning! But this aside, their influences, even if it was God, have given them a great new sound!

I'm going to see them play at New Slang in Kingston tonight for their album launch show, will be quite an intimate gig, and it will be really interesting to see how their new material sounds live. I've got a feeling it will sound even better!
